Disney without a plan
I was thinking back to the first time I went to Disney several years ago. V was 2.5 years old, and we thought it was a good idea to go in the middle of July. With no plan in mind we thought that just winging it would be fine, boy was I wrong. I remember on our first day we decided to go to Magic Kingdom around 11am, by the time we got ready and got to the park it was almost 1pm. We were staying at a resort outside of Disney and it took us almost 45 minutes to get there. As we got through security and strolled into Main Street, the look of horror on my husbands face was like he'd walked into a room full of screaming babies. The place was packed! How can that be? I thought the park died down in the afternoon? We quickly pulled out our park maps and started to navigate through the park, and after an hour we realized that the day was going to be a disaster. We were so confused, we didn't know which rides to go on and all of the lines were over 60 minutes long. Very quickly our moods spiraled and our toddler started to have a meltdown because he had lost interest. I looked around and noticed that we weren't the only family in the park with confused looks on our face. Then it came to me, Disney can be very intimidating. Think about it with four parks, two water parks and Disney Springs how can one process such a big place without a plan? We were Disney newbies, and we had no clue.
It really makes me cringe when I hear people say that we are going to Disney, and we are going to just wing it. It reminds me of our first time at Disney and the memories I have of my two year old having a melt down, a frustrated husband, my sore sore feet.
